Three things Thursday!
How do you get motivated to de-clutter??
So I pretty much de-clutter every day. I've been trying to change my mindset over the years to have less stuff, but it doesn't always work out that way. Since I had children, I always feel like we have too much stuff. And now that we are now happily ensconced in our new home (week 2 if anyone is counting), I have been doing another purge of our belongings. I currently have about 15 boxes going to the mother of all Garage Sales in the Spring! This got me thinking - what inspires you to purge and de-clutter? Here are 3 ways you can get motivated.
1) Throw a party or host a big event!
Nothing says get busy sister like a party. You need to clean, update, fix and toss unwanted items before the big event. Plan your party at least 1 month ahead of time so you can get yourself in the mindset to de-clutter along the way. Make lots of trips to your favorite donation drop-off and really assess the things you own. We are have a little get together coming up to celebrate our little mister mister turning 3, so I am in party mode. It's good to have goals!
Okay don't plan a move just to de-clutter LOL. I mean, that would be silly, right?
BUT you CAN use a major event like moving as a great opportunity to toss or donate or give away things that no longer serve you. Don't take it all with ya if you can help it!
3) Have a Garage sale (or a tag sale for y'all Northerners!)
Why not make some money off of your old stuff? Set a date for when the weather is nicer (we hope!) and work towards that date. Cull all of your saleable items in one spot. Then tag them, make your signs, haul them outside and you are in business!
Peace, love, and labelmakers y'all!
